About Us.

Why "The Well"

The "Well" is inspired by the amazing story in John chapter 4 where Jesus meets a woman by a well. Jesus meets this woman right where she was and it changed her life forever. Although the conversation starts out around normal well water, Jesus reveals that He has living water - water that becomes a spring of water welling up to eternal life. This living water is found in the gospel through a saving relationship by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

The Well Community Church seeks to be a place where both Believers as well as those interested in learning about Christianity and a relationship with Jesus Christ can week in and week out hear about, learn about, and drink in the living water that Jesus offers us through His Word and the gospel. We desire to be a gathering place (like a well) for our community to experience the love, fellowship, and life transformation that can only be found in Christ and with His people. The Well Community Church exists to glorify God through the worship and witness of Jesus Christ.

CORE BELIEFS

SCRIPTURE

The Bible is God's Word, written by men, divinely inspired, and without error in its original manuscripts. Scripture is sufficient, clear, and necessary in all matters of faith and life for followers of Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

THE TRIUNE GOD.

There is one, and only one, living and true God, eternally existing in three distinct persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are fully God, coequal and coeternal, having the same essence and perfect attributes, and are thus equally worthy of worship and obedience. (Genesis 1-2; John 1)

THE FATHER.

God the Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding from anything. He is infinite yet personal, transcendent yet immanent, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He is Father to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. (John 1: 14,18; 1 Timothy 1:17; Exodus 3:14)

THE SON (JESUS).

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, fully God and fully man, eternally begotten of the Father, not created.  He became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirt, born of the virgin Mary. Jesus lived a perfect sinless life, died on the cross, was buried, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended into heaven to redeem sinful people. (Colossians 1:13-22; Hebrews 1:1-3)

THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The Holy Spirit is the personal supernatural agent who applies salvation to sinful people, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying, and sealing them until the day of Christ's return. He is the third person of the Trinity, fully God, eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son. (John 14:15-26; 1 Corinthians 12: 4-14)

HUMANITY.

Humanity is the special creation of God, made in His own image. God created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. Therefore, every life is sacred, and every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. (Genesis 1-3; Psalm 8:3-6)

THE FALL (SIN).

Although humanity was originally created in the image of God, man fell through the voluntary transgression (sin) of the one man Adam. As a result, all humanity are now sinners, spiritually dead in sin, alienated from God, and facing His judgment. (Genesis 3:1-19; Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-19)

SALVATION.

Salvation is the unmerited gift of God to rescue spiritually dead, sinful people from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His marvelous light. Salvation of the believer is only by God's grace, through faith in the finished substitutionary work of Jesus Christ on the cross. (1 Peter 2:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:23-24)

THE CHURCH.

The Church is both universal and local. The universal church is the body and bride of Christ and is made up of all true believers in all times and in all places. The local church is a visible representation of Christ's body and bride that bands together for worship, instruction, service, fellowship, mission, and the celebration of the ordinances. (Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-47; Hebrews 10:24-25)

THE ORDINANCES.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances that Jesus Christ committed to the local church. Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, which is a public testimony of the believer's new life in Christ. The Lord's Supper likewise is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers, following self-examination, commemorate the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 3:13-17; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:17-33)

THE END (ETERNITY).

One day Jesus will return to earth to judge all people and to rule with His saints forever. Believers (the saved) in Christ will be resurrected to eternal blessedness and joy in the presence of God. Unbelievers (the lost) will be resurrected to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.  (Matthew 24:31-46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:1-11)
